Artist Statement:
The tactile nature of fiber makes it a medium most interesting to explore. I have been working with various techniques for nearly 50 years and have never felt that I have answered all of my questions.
The smaller pieces that I produce, in my working genre, are referred to as Floor Exercises, similar to the tracings that dancers make when they are perfecting a performance piece. By working in a small space, one must concentrate on just what is enough to produce the image that one wants to convey. Too little and the piece falls short, BUT too much and it is overloaded and clumsy.
I have always said that I didn’t have enough angst to make great art, but I feel that I have been able to dig deeper into my soul to create pieces that speak for themselves and hopefully give thought to the viewer.
